Wanted to give a glimpse into what it’s like feeding my worms.
Since I’m using a Worm Factory 360, I needed to start a new tray. Here’s what I did:
- Added some blended food scraps to the bottom.
- Covered them with some browned fallen leaves.
- Topped that with shredded newspaper that I sprayed down with a water bottle.
- Covered everything with a sheet of newspaper that I sprayed down as well.
It’s quick and easy. Here’s a video to see what it’s like.

I really want one of these worm composters! But how bad is the smell? The literature says you can, but is it realistic to think that I can have one of these in the cabinet under my kitchen sink? I am afraid it will stink up the whole apartment.
No smell at all if it’s maintained properly, which is easy to do.
It literally doesn’t smell at all! I had the same concern…but mine has been running for a month and no smell. And…it’s as compact as they advertise.
I have been planning to start composting, but is there a way around spending $36.99 / lb. for red worms? You don’t need a pound to start do you? I’m thinking that I could start with app. a dozen and they will reproduce.
Thanks,
Nikki
Look into local sources for your worms. They are likely cheaper. Not sure if you can start with a dozen. They are usually sold in either 1/2 pound or 1 pound quantities.
I love my worm factory 360!
